What will I gain from placement at Egress?
Welcoming new students into Egress each year is always one of the most exciting times for everyone across the business. For your university placement, you’ll gain a unique insight into what it’s like at one of Britain’s fastest-growing technology scale-ups.
This year, we’re offering a diverse selection of business and technical 12-month placement roles, to be taken as part of your undergraduate degree in our Sheffield and London offices.
Learn from expert colleagues
You’ll get the opportunity to tackle major projects, collaborating with experienced colleagues across the business and interacting directly with Egress’ customers.
Take on important tasks
Important responsibilities come as standard. Once you’ve finished your training, you’ll be given real opportunities to make a tangible difference.

It’s all about gaining the right experience, which is why you’ll be able to develop your skills and learn from experts across the business throughout your entire 12 month placement.
What is the application process?
Check out our vacancies page for open roles. Click on the role you wish to apply for from the list and follow the steps through the online application process. Please remember to submit a cover letter, as we cannot accept any applications without one!
For all business roles, applications will be open from 12th October until 12th December.
For all technical roles, applications will be open from 1st December until 18th January.
We will reply to you regarding your application within a few weeks after applications close.
At this stage, you’ll be invited to a telephone interview, which will typically last around 20 minutes. This will be a chance for us to ask some questions about your background and why you want to join Egress for your placement year.
For all business roles, telephone interviews will be scheduled between January and February.
For all technical roles, telephone interviews will be scheduled between February and March.
If you’re successful at the telephone interview stage, you’ll be invited to a recruitment event. This is a chance for us to meet you properly. At our events, conducted either in-person or online, we’ll ask you to complete a few individual tasks, as well as group tasks, and you’ll have a face-to-face interview with a member of the team.
For all business roles, recruitment events will be scheduled between February and March.
For all technical roles, recruitment events will be scheduled between March and April.
The final stage will be a longer interview with a member of our team to ask you some more in-depth questions about the role you’re applying for.
Final interviews will be scheduled a few weeks after the recruitment event.
Starting at Egress
If successful, you’ll start in summer, with a short handover between you and the previous student. Congratulations!

Pre-pandemic, every Egress office was a fantastic place to work. Now, with remote working the ‘new normal’, we’ve made sure that we’ve kept the great office atmosphere, wherever you’re working. Weekly all staff calls, our new ‘Home Working Legend of the Week’ award, and regular giveaways mean the Egress culture is definitely still in full flow.
