The Team

The Cyber Analytics Team’s main responsibility is to undertake the development of new detection capabilities as well as improving existing algorithms. This is how the team drive the business in their understanding of the fast moving cyber landscape and how we can best protect our customers from sophisticated attacks and crime as a service.

The Role

As a Cyber Engineer working within the Cyber Analytics Team, a large part of your role will be to empower the rest of the team and our technology with your engineering skill and knowledge. This will be done through a number of means, whether it’s upskilling other team members in the world of programming, developing powerful tools that they can use or researching and developing new systems to enable the full potential of all our technology.

Overall, we are a highly flexible team with a key focus on defeating attackers, understanding the fast-moving landscape and protecting users.

Day-to-day activities include:

  • Developing detection algorithms (python, c#) and extracting identifying features of phishing emails.
  • Empowering the threat intelligence and cyber analytics teams through the development of internal tools
  • Optimizing and implementing new functionality to existing code bases and data models
  • Reviewing, understanding and reverse engineering phishing attacks and technologies.
  • Understanding human behaviour and communications, and how they can be exploited by attackers
  • Using machine learning to identify broader phishing trends and how to protect against
  • Creative problem solving

The Person

This role is perfect for you if you have a passion for cybersecurity and you thrive off getting one step ahead of malicious attackers. This role will drive the detection of phishing attacks in a proactive manor and directly influences how our customers are protected. If you are keen about pushing your learning about cyber security, data science, machine learning and working with a team who is on the cutting edge of human layer security working with some of the most exciting and diverse challenges, you would fit in well.

Must haves:

  • 1-3 years of working on projects within C#
  • Any experience with working with databases (preferably MongoDB)
  • Someone who is driven and wants to learn and push the boundaries as part of a highly motivated team

Nice to haves:

  • Any experience working with email or HTML
  • Knowledge of social engineering and phishing
  • Statistical analysis skills
  • Scripting/Coding in Python
  • Evaluating trends and highlighting key features
  • Demonstrable experience in being able to quickly learn and adapt to new areas of technology
  • Ability to think outside the box and/or maliciously and deliver creative solutions.
