As an individual, you may have certain rights by law in respect of the personal data that we hold about you. These rights may not always apply as your location and the basis on which we’re processing your personal data may affect their availability.

What we may need from you

  • We may need you to provide extra information to help us confirm your identity. This helps us make sure personal data is not disclosed to, deleted or erased by, any person who has no right to do so.
  • We may contact you to ask for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response or to clarify the request.

If we’re unable to verify you or you refuse to respond to any reasonable steps we take to do so, this will impact on our ability to fulfil the request.

To access personal data we hold about you and confirm why we process it.

We collect very limited information about our users. Our customers and users decide the information shared, stored or sent through our services so you may need to contact them.

We do not generally process based on consent (as we can usually rely on another lawful basis). Details are set out in our privacy policies available here.

We may still contact you by email where relevant to tell you about service issues, availability or updates to those services that you purchase from, or subscribe to with, us.

To request we stop processing your personal data

It’s available where we process it for a legitimate interest or for direct marketing. Remember:

  • there may be legal or regulatory reasons why we’re doing so
  • we may be processing it in order to fulfil our contractual obligations to another user (e.g. if they provided it or it’s part of their Content)
  • information you shared with others may form part of their account with us and may not be deleted when you close your account or make this request

To request that we restrict how we process your personal data

It is not an absolute right and it’s availability depends on the basis that we’re processing it. It can assist where your personal data:

  • is not accurate and you have contested it
  • has been used unlawfully but you don’t want us to delete it
  • is not relevant anymore but you want to keep it for use in legal claimsinformation you shared with others may form part of their account with us and may not be deleted when you close your account or make this request
  • is awaiting deletion and you’re waiting for us to confirm if we have a lawful reason for using it.

We do not sell your personal information outside of our Group.

To delete any personal information about you that we ourselves have collected directly from you

There are exclusions from this right, e.g. we don’t have to delete personal information that we: (i) still need to provide services you request from us, or perform a contract with you; (ii) we use to detect, protect against or investigate security incidents or activity; or (iii) need to retain for compliance purposes.

No fee usually required

You’ll generally not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights).

We do however reserve the right, in line with regulatory guidance, to either charge you a reasonable fee for complying with your request, or to refuse to comply with it, if it is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive.

Time limit to respond

We’ll comply with any response times set out by law relevant to where you are resident.

For UK and EEA residents this means we try to respond to all verified requests within one month (starting on the day we receive it).

If you’re a Californian Consumer, we try to respond to all verified requests within 45 days of receipt. Remember, we do not have to disclose your personal information to you more than twice in any 12 month period.

Occasionally it could take us longer if we’re unable to verify you, or if your request is particularly complex or you’ve made a number of requests. If that’s the case, we’ll notify you and keep you updated.
