The Product

Our Prevent Product combines intelligent technologies to detect accidental data loss events and malicious data exfiltration attempts. There are 2 core teams who are involved in the development of lightning-fast microservices which form the back-end and the reporting functionality of the product: Prevent Application and Reporting. We work with Big Data sets to provide risk-assessments to users in real time and leverage this using Machine Learning algorithms. As a team we tick most of the buzz words going in tech right now so it's an exciting team to be a part of!

About the role

As an over arching Tech Lead (looking across both squads in the Prevent Product) you'll play a key role across both the architecture and development, turning our roadmap into reality for one of our data security services. With your help we will:

Your knowledge, experience and skills should include:

  • Building software
    • Translating solutions into code fluently
    • Ensures system meets business needs today and plans for the future
    • Continually evaluates cloud technologies for potential strategic fit to enhance Egress products
    • Communicating design overviews to technical stakeholders
    • Instructing stakeholders on potential threats in order to gain support for strategic changes
    • Solving complex problems independently where possible
    • Working with Product Management to offer guidance on future developments
  • Learning and teaching
    • Curiosity and a growth mindset
    • Leading best practice for design and development
    • Sharing your knowledge and mentoring colleagues

We are looking for experience in any of the following:

  • Extensive experience with C#
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience with Microsoft's Azure or AWS Platform
  • Experience with build pipelines
  • Some experience with Node.js & Express
  • Extensive experience building and improving REST/JSON API clients
  • Experience in working with Linux containers, preferably with Kubernetes
  • Experience within a continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) environment
  • Extensive Experience with relational databases
  • Strong in Object Oriented Programming, MVC, Design patterns and SOLID principles
  • 3+ years of technically leading a high impact product / team

Nice to have:

  • Experience with ASP.Net Core
  • Experience with Vue.js or similar
  • Experience with Sass/CSS3
  • Experience with Webpack

  • Leads on design and execution of complex deliverables taking into account integration factors and external dependencies including (but not limited to) scalability, hardware capabilities, cross-environment and platform implications
  • Taking a bigger picture approach (mid to long term) to architecture across the Prevent Product
  • Good understanding of future Roadmap items, forward planning technical design / architecture proposals
  • Identifying technical risks / dependencies early in Roadmap items and forming plans to tackle them
  • Able to take the lead in technical discussions and move a project from a concept to reality
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders (internal and external to the team) for successful delivery of high quality software
  • Championing development best practices across Prevent such as Code Reviews, Pair Programming, ADRs etc
  • Liaise regularly with EM / other Tech Leads to flag Challenges, Problems & Risks
  • Develops and maintains Security Awareness knowledge in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Communication of project progress, challenges, risks, and issues via the Engineering Manager
