Leading Fostering Provider Xcel 2000 chooses Egress Switch, the award winning email and file encryption solution, to protect sensitive information shared with external third parties including Local Authorities.
Based in the South East of England, Xcel 2000 supports foster carers in Croydon (Surrey), Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire and is the preferred provider to the Eastern Regional Local Authorities covered by the ER5 Contract. As a result, large amounts of very sensitive case specific information has to be shared with these organisations outside the Xcel 2000 secure network. Without the right levels of security and encryption Xcel 2000 risked a major data loss or breach of key information.
As Dave Hook, Business Manager, Xcel 2000 explained; “Given the nature of our work, we deal with sensitive case information on a daily basis. We therefore needed a secure, efficient and easy to use way of sharing information with other fostering agencies, Local Authorities, care trusts, and other third party organisations.”
Egress Switch was already well known and well used by Local Authorities in London and the South East having been selected as the email encryption and secure large file transfer solution for the London Councils Procurement Framework in 2011. As a result, the vast majority of Local Authorities in London and the surrounding Boroughs were already using Egress Switch to securely share information with third parties.
Egress Switch offers innovative on-demand data security and “follow the data control” so that users have complete control when sending information electronically. This level of control and real-time auditing protects users from accidental data loss and also prevents third parties mishandling personal or sensitive data.
“After an initial evaluation of Egress Switch, we were very impressed by the level of information security it offered us,” continued Dave. “It enables our users to send sensitive information, confident in the knowledge that it is totally secure and they remain in control. Therefore, the decision to roll this out across the organisation was an easy one. Since implementing the solution its ease of use has limited the need for end user training so we have been secure from day one.”
Tony Pepper, CEO, Egress Software Technologies commented; “We are delighted that Xcel 2000 have chosen Egress Switch. Our extensive work with Local Authorities in England, Scotland, and Wales and their community supply chain has demonstrated how organisations can effectively and securely share information with one another using our software. Not only does it protect organisations involved from costly fines and reputational damage, but also ensures that the sensitive information regarding citizens, patients, and other key stake holders is protected at all times. These are benefits that should help Xcel 2000 maintain security and control over information, whilst continuing to focus on their core role as a fostering provider.”
