New York, US – April 5, 2023 – Egress, a leading provider of intelligent email security, has been recognized as a Representative Vendor in the Integrated Cloud Email Security (ICES) category in the 2023 Gartner Market Guide for Email Security. The report recognized Egress for three products: Egress Defend Egress Prevent, and Egress Protect.

Representative vendors were selected on the basis of one or both of the following: client interest via searches on and client inquiries about that vendor for email security and vendors offering email security capabilities in ways that are unique, innovative and/or demonstrative of forward-looking product strategies.

In the report, Gartner notes that “email continues to be a significant attack vector for malware and credential theft through phishing. An estimated 40% of ransomware attacks start through email. Cloud adoption continues, with an estimated 70% using cloud email solutions.”

Gartner goes on to recommend that security and risk management leaders responsible for email security should:

  • Supplement the native capabilities of your existing cloud email solutions with third-party security solutions to provide phishing protection for collaboration tools and to address both mobile- and BEC-type phishing scenarios.
  • Use email security solutions that include anti-phishing technology for targeted BEC protection that use AI to detect communication patterns and conversation-style anomalies.
  • Reinforce training with context-aware banners and in-line prompts to help educate users.

“We’re pleased to be recognized as a Representative Vendor in the Integrated Cloud Email Security (ICES) category of the 2023 Gartner Market Guide for Email Security,” said Tony Pepper, CEO of Egress. “The Gartner report recommends organizations “evaluate built-in email security capabilities provided by cloud email systems and augment it with third-party solutions for handling sophisticated attacks.” At Egress, we are committed to continuously evolving our Intelligent Email Security platform to detect and neutralize threats to email security, including BEC, ransomware, and social engineering attacks.
