London – March 2017
Egress Software Technologies, a leading provider of data security services to government, announces Perth and Kinross Council’s use of Egress Switch Email and File Transfer when sharing sensitive emails and files with a range of external recipients.
Perth and Kinross Council provides a wide range of local services and support to the community, including education, social work services, housing, planning, road maintenance, waste collection, and culture and leisure facilities. As a result, council staff routinely share information via email with a range of approved third parties – such as independent social workers, foster care agencies, and numerous contractors.
Given the potential sensitivity of the data being shared, the council recognised the need to take the necessary precautions to secure their confidential data.
Switch Secure Email and File Transfer is used by Perth and Kinross Council to enable its staff to send and receive encrypted emails across a varied network of third parties. The service allows users to revoke access to information in real time, even after it has reached the recipient’s mailbox. Users can also review detailed audit information for every email and control user’s actions – such as printing, forwarding, and copying and pasting – to make sure sensitive information is handled correctly. In response, recipients are able to receive and reply to encrypted emails completely free of charge, ensuring shared data is protected at all times.
