Given the potential sensitivity of the data being shared, the council recognised the need to take the necessary precautions to secure their confidential data.

Egress Protect is used by Perth and Kinross Council to enable its staff to send and receive encrypted emails across a varied network of third parties. The service allows users to revoke access to information in real time, even after it has reached the recipient’s mailbox. Users can also review detailed audit information for every email and control user’s actions – such as printing, forwarding, and copying and pasting – to make sure sensitive information is handled correctly. In response, recipients are able to receive and reply to encrypted emails completely free of charge, ensuring shared data is protected at all times.
