Preparing your organization for a HIPAA audit
In their day-to-day function, healthcare organizations process significant amounts of data, most of which is highly sensitive and requires security in order to protect it. This includes both Protected Health Information (PHI) and sensitive personal data, such as social security numbers and financial data. As more and more of this information is digitized and needs to be communicated electronically, it's critical that healthcare providers maintain the levels of privacy and security their patients have come to expect.
A primary aspect of this is ensuring compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
