Egress expands Portfolio to include Gateway Encryption and Web Based Client-less Access

London - July 2011 - Egress Software Technologies, an innovator in collaborative data security, announced today the availability of Egress Switch v2.32. This latest version incorporates key features to enable organisations the ability to encrypt email messages centrally, support offline access, and provide recipients with a simplified web based experience when accessing or replying to encrypted emails.

"Offering customer's additional functionality in parallel to new features that enhance overall usability is one of the reasons why Egress Software is leading the market in email and file encryption," said Tony Pepper, CEO for Egress Software Technologies.

Highlighted new features include:

  • Server-side Gateway Encryption
The Switch Outlook/Lotus Notes Addin can now be configured to use server-side gateway encryption rather than local encryption. This enables organisations to introduce protection of outbound data without disrupting existing indexing or message archiving processes.

  • Web Based Client-less Access
Egress Switch now supports the ability for recipients to access and reply to encrypted emails using any web browser.

  • Support for Outlook 64 bit
The Egress Switch Outlook Addin now supports 64 bit versions of Outlook 2010.

  • Offline Access
Enabled optionally by policy, authors of information are able to issue a randomly generated password. This password enables recipients to access encrypted emails or files without an internet connection.

  • Cloud Upload Resilience
The Cloud upload API’s have been enhanced to provide improved performance and resilience when transferring large files.

  • Improved Usability
A number of minor enhancements have been made to the Switch system tray logic to improve user experience in environments where desktop PCs or laptops are often shared.

Pepper Continues, "This new and exciting functionality demonstrates our ability to deliver versatile and uniquely uncomplicated security software, which is reflected in our rapidly expanding client base.

Operating in a market defined by compliance yet driven by convenience, Egress products and services provide customers around the world with a unified security platform when sharing confidential information with third parties.

Leveraging Government accredited SAAS infrastructure, and utilizing AES 256 bit FIPS 140-2 encryption, Switch protects confidential information sent by email, copied to USB removable media, burnt to CD/DVD, or uploaded to FTP/Cloud Servers. Access privileges can then be modified or revoked in real-time, even after the information is sent or shared. This allows users to instantly ‘pull information back’ should there be evidence that data has been lost or mishandled.

Egress Switch also offers data classification and customisable disclaimer notifications, making email encryption, media encryption, and large file transfer more secure and easier than ever. This next generation level of control, combined with integrated workflow features, mitigates the risk of unintentional data loss and enforces recipient responsibility when handling confidential information.
