Child Contact centre selects Egress Switch to protect highly sensitive case information shared with third parties
London – February 2014 – Egress Software Technologies today announces the uptake of its award-winning email and file encryption solution, Egress Switch, by Academy of Little Angels.
London-based Academy of Little Angels provides both supervised and supported contact for vulnerable children and young adults, protecting them from conflict and harm, and where possible, fostering positive, long-term contact. As a result, the organisation regularly shares highly sensitive case information regarding service users and their families with third parties, in particular the Government’s Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), local authorities and the police. Academy of Little Angels consequently identified the need to secure and protect this information while in transit.
Director of Academy of Little Angels Lloyd LaRose-Jones explains: “In order to keep the vulnerable children and young adults that we work with safe, staff at Academy of Little Angels need to share confidential and sensitive information on a daily basis. As we have a duty of care to protect our service users, it is therefore absolutely crucial that we safeguard their personal data.”
A main consideration for Academy of Little Angels when selecting a security solution was ease of use. “We were conscious that the solution we chose needed to be easy for staff to integrate into their daily routines, as well as intuitive for recipients to use,” Mr LaRose-Jones continues. “Having had information sent to us using Egress Switch, we were impressed by how simple the solution is to use and immediately made enquiries into purchasing the software.”
Integrating seamlessly with a variety of email clients, including Microsoft Outlook, Switch provides a one-click solution to email and file encryption. The software can also be configured to automatically encrypt confidential data based on classification, size, content, location or recipient, ensuring that organisations can remain protected at all times. Moreover, as recipients can reply free of charge, end-to-end data security is ensured throughout the information sharing lifecycle.
Commenting on the announcement, Egress UK Sales Manager Kelly McCann stated: “We are delighted that Academy of Little Angels has chosen Switch to secure and protect the highly confidential electronic information they share with third parties, such as Cafcass, local authorities and the police. Safeguarding vulnerable children and young adults also means protecting their personal data. Consequently, as Switch ensures end-to-end data protection through an easy-to-use interface, users at the Academy of Little Angels can focus on the important work they carry out every day, confident that they are protected from the data losses and breaches that puts personal data at risk.”
