Egress Switch makes securing your sensitive files simple using the Switch Package creator. Because Switch was designed with the workflow of sharing files in mind, we’ve built support for delivering the secure package into the client, and we’re adding new ways to share information all the time. Exchanging information as email attachments, burning to CD or DVD, or uploading to the internet are all supported as easy ways to deliver your secure package to the recipient directly from the Egress Switch client.
When you send emails with attachments, Egress Switch can secure those files without disruption. Simply create your email and add your attachments before setting package restrictions and customizable header text at this time. Authorized recipients are automatically added to secure packages before the mail is sent, making sharing information securely as simple as it can possibly be.
Placing large data sets on a CD or DVD to be sent through regular mail is an inexpensive solution for data sharing. With Egress Switch, we’ve built CD Encryption, DVD Encryption and Blu-ray Encryption support into the client so you won’t need anything else to produce encrypted optical discs. The interface is incredibly simple and there are no complex “burning options” found in many CD applications. If you are worried about the disc being lost in the mail, simply create the secure package with no recipients. When accessed by the recipient you’ll receive a personalized request enabling you to remain in complete control - safe in the knowledge that the disc got to the intended destination.
Sometimes you need a faster option to send large data sets. Egress Switch secure packages can be sent electronically by FTP or web-based file transfer in one single click. Once you have created your package, select the Server Upload mechanism and choose an FTP site or web address. In one click, Switch will place your secure package at that location so your recipients can access it. You can create bookmarks for each site you use so it’s even easier to send information the next time
Once you have completed the steps to create and send a secure package, you can save that sequence in a Switch project. This project remembers what files you shared, who they went to, and any limitations you set. The next time you need to share similar information, just open the Switch project and create a new package with the same content and settings. It’s another way that Egress Switch makes sharing easy.
When you create and send a secure package using Egress Switch, you may want to let the recipients know information has been sent to them securely. After creating the package, Switch lets you send the recipients an email with a standard message explaining how they can access the information you sent. Before you send the email, you can add your own personal comments or modify the standard message. You may even want to remind them that there is no cost to use Egress Switch as a recipient. It’s a convenient way to let recipients know that you take data security seriously.
