Creating An Account

Egress Switch is the latest, simplest and safest way to transport information of any size to any recipient through a variety of different mechanisms, from email or optical and removable media to FTP and HTTP uploads.

You will need to create an Egress Switch account if any of the following scenarios apply to you: -

  • Someone has sent you a Switch package (a file ending in ".switch"), to access it you require a Switch Account.
  • You wish to send some information to a recipient and want to ensure that the data is both encrypted and within your control.

If either of the scenarios above apply to you, then follow the steps below to begin creating your free account. The entire process is designed to be quick and easy so you should be up and running in approximately 1 minute.

This document assumes that you have the Egress Switch Client installed.

Step 1: From the Welcome Screen select 'Create Account'

Step 2: A new screen will appear, from here select Create a new Switch ID (free)

Step 3: Enter the requested details including a valid email address. A valid email address is required as a verification email will be sent to that address to confirm your identity. On completion your email address will become your Switch ID and you will use this to sign into Switch. When you have finished entering your details, click Next.

Step 4: Select and answer 2 security questions. Should you ever forget your password, you can recover the details by answering these questions.

Step 5: Choose whether you would like to receive information about product updates and services from Egress by ticking or unticking the box. Enter the verification code displayed to complete the sign-up process. The verification code is not case sensitive and may contain numbers and letters.

Step 6: Once you have completed the step above (Step 5), an email will be sent to the address you specified earlier in the process asking you to either click the highlighted link or enter the code displayed.

If you clicked the link in the email, simply tick the box in the Account Creation wizard which says 'I have already activated the account by clicking a link in the activation email' as shown below and then click Next.

Alternatively, copy & paste the code in the email and enter it into the Activation Code field in the Account Creation wizard and then click 'Next'.

Step 7: That's It! You have now successfully created your Egress Switch account and can begin sending and receiving encrypted Switch packages. For further information be sure to check out the Online Resources section here.
