Even though the company is somewhat new, members of Egress Software Technologies have been working in the field of data security well before its recent surge in visibility. We continue to build and learn from our experience, having seen many different approaches and generations of data security provide value to small and large organizations.
While working at leading security companies such as Reflex Magnetics, Pointsec, and Check Point, we found many organizations were experiencing high-impact data loss events that were damaging to their reputations and businesses. As market leaders in full disk encryption, port protection, and media encryption, we knew these solutions were only an important first step in protecting data on company-owned infrastructure.
As we analyzed the needs of real users, some interesting trends came to light. Most striking was the need to secure information that is being shared. This one category represents the source of more than one-third of data breaches. More importantly, up to the time Egress Software Technologies was founded, no compelling solution was available.
That’s why we introduced our first data security product, Egress Switch in 2009 - to address the problem of secure data exchange. We layered this innovative product on top of a successful reseller business to offer an unbeatable combination to our customers that protects and controls information inside and outside your infrastructure.
