The UK National Health Service (NHS) is the largest publicly funded health service in the world. The NHS is made up of a network of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), Hospitals, General Practitioners (GPs), and other units that share information about the patients they serve. Patient information is frequently shared internally between these units as well as externally in cases involving consultants, criminal justice, or local educational authorities.
